I was Googling my name to see what came up when I came across your blog. I had totally forgotten about the process of being chosen for that opportunity. All I remember is wanting that secretary job with all my heart. I think I wanted it so badly because that's what I did for you. I helped you file and highlight and organize. I remember Derek asking me if I wanted e-mail you. I didn't know your e-mail so that's why I called. Now, e-mail is one of the main ways we communicate. If it were a story in my english class this entire situation would be foreshadowing my life.
Now that I am in college, I'm actually thinking about majoring in marketing. I think I've known my whole life that I wanted to be in business; I dream about singing and performing, but I've always known I would grow up to be like my parents. They always let me dream my dreams and never once tried to take them away from me. I love you, Mom. I love Dad. One of these days in the near future I will be one of those executives you've always wanted me to be. Your dreams are for me to succeed and be happy. They're coming true right before your eyes.
As I read this, I started tearing up remembering how naive I was. But I wasn't naive at all. I wanted to do the same thing that I'd been doing for you for so long. You always told me you were proud of how efficient I was at putting binders together for you and organizing your cabinets. When I was 10, I just saw that hard work made you proud and if being your secretary was what made you proud of me, then that's what I would do. I know now that you'll be proud of me no matter what I chose to do as long as I love it. So that's what I'm doing, exploring my options with that competitive drive I get from my mom.

As usual, your wit has me roaring! You take something that most people consider a disability and make it hilarious. I love "reptile dysfunction" -- I can just see you asking your family what the commercial is about!

I'm so glad you started this blog to share your sharp perspective and humor with more of the world!

Thanks, too, for listing Adventures in Dating After 40, http://www.DatingGoddess.com
